The American Legion Warffemius-Seidler Post 381 membership meeting opened at 7:35 pm
at Post HQ, 14313 Brandywine Heights Road, Brandywine, MD by Post Commander Ron

Minutes from the previous meeting was presented and approved.
Reports:
Wilmer’s Park: Post Third Vice Commander (VCmdr) Tyrone Eugene and Commander (Cmdr) Ron Fisher presented an update on the latest information on the Post’s attempt to acquire Wilmer’s Park.
VCmdr Eugene recapped the commercial activities that the Post is anticipating conducting once the Post moves into Wilmer’s Park. The Prince George’s County Park and Planning Commission (P&P). Next month, on May 11, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (P&P) will host a Baden Community Meeting at the Baden Volunteer Fire Department.
Member Fred Harley said that after that meeting in May, the Post will have to meet with the P&P council meeting once more, which should be the last community meeting before P&P can officially release Wilmer’s Park to Post 381.
Member Noah Call-Boyce relayed to the Post a conversation he had with someone (anonymity requested) who could build and run a paintball field on several acres of Wilmer’s Park. Mr. Call-Boyce provided some background that he’s been playing paintball since he was ten. With that background, he was able to ask and relay to the Post many pertinent ideas on how this person would build and run a paintball field to benefit the Post.
After an informal talk with this person, Cmdr Fisher presented to the Post several ideas on what a professional relationship would look like. Once the Post has acquired Wilmer’s Park, Cmdr Fisher will move forward with this concept.
Financial Report: Cmdr Fisher presented the current bank account. MSP to accept his report.
Old Business:
Cmdr Fisher announced that Ricardo Hendi of Armise Architects, LLC, is joining with Post 381 and Nakita Reed of Encore Sustainable Design, LLC, in anticipation of rebuilding Wilmer’s Park.
American Legion Post 275 in Glenarden, MD, will host a banquet to roast PGCC Commander John McGee Next week. Cmdr Fisher and Adjutant (Adj) Erle Ross will attend.
The Southern Maryland District (SMD) will host a banquet in two weeks at the Harry White Wilmer Post 82 in La Plata. Adj Ross and Judge Advocate (JA) Jeremy Foster will attend.
New Business:
Cmdr Fisher announced that he will be traveling sometime in the next couple of weeks to the National NAACP Vice President to officially endorse Post 381.
Sherry Miller was nominated for the office of Service Officer. Accepted. The remaining officers were nominated to remain in their current positions without dissent. Post elections will take place at next month’s meeting.
Cmdr Fisher nominated Jean Arthur Wilmer to be an honorary member of Post 381. VCmdr Eugene asked JA Foster to review the legalities of this. Ms. Wilmer is the only natural child of Arthur Wilmer, the former owner/operator and namesake of Wilmer’s Park. Cmdr Fisher intends to appoint Ms. Wilmer to a new Historical Preservation Committee to ensure the historical aspects of Wilmer’s Park and what Post 381 does with Wilmer’s Park will work together.
Adj Ross moved to increase the Post dues by $2.00 beginning with the 2018 membership year. MSP.
Good of the Post:
JA Foster announced his daughter’s missionary trip to Africa with the Swazi Bridge Project (www.swazibridgeproject.org) and is asking for support from Post members.
Adj Ross presented two American Legion raffles (Youth Camp and SMD raffles) and asked for participation.
JA Foster will coordinate with the Post to participate in a work day at Department Commander Pat McCoy’s house. He’ll call members when the work-day is decided.
