The American Legion Warffemius-Seider Post 381 membership meeting opened at 7:33 pm
at Post HQ, 14313 Brandywine Heights Road, Brandywine, MD by Post Commander Ron
Fisher.
A quorum being met by the following

Invocation was offered by Post Chaplin Chris Marshall.
Attendance was taken by Adjutant Erle Ross and a quorum was present.
Minutes from the previous meeting was presented and approved with corrections.
Reports:
Treasury Report: Cmdr Fisher advised the Post of the current bank Balances and funds in-
hand ready to be deposited, including prize money the Post received at the Oyster Bowl for
the Post’s membership drive. Annual County & District dues have been paid. Department
annual convention delegate fees have been paid. Treasurer’s Report MSP.
Sick Call/Chaplain’s Report: Post Financial Officer Pamela Neal-Robinson’s mother is dealing
with health issues.
Introduction of Guests: Da’rrell Davis, a disabled veteran introduced himself. He described
the 4-years-long struggle with the Veteran’s Administration for benefits that still haven’t
been paid in full. Cmdr Fisher committed the Post to ensuring he has contact information for
local and Department American Legion Service Officers and Adjutants.
Service Officer Report: Cmdr Fisher presented the Service Officer’s report. The NAACP
Family Day was the previous weekend. The Post provided entertainment in the way of the
Moon Bounce & inflated slide. Several members of the Post & Auxiliary were on hand,
including NAACP Prince George’s County President and Post 381 charter member Bob Ross.
First Vice Commander Henry Turner presented the idea of being visible with the Moon
Bounce & inflated slide at the Congressional Black Caucus on September 14-20.
Wilmer’s Park Committee: The Wilmer’s Park Committee report was given by Cmdr Fisher.
He said the Park & Recreation Department will start cutting down trees & the grass and
replace the fence facing Brandywine Road within the next week. The survey is complete,
and a photographer will be arriving to document the property’s appearance from before the
Post takes possession through the development of the Post’s headquarters.
Old Business:
The Post was represented at the Marlton Golf Course reopening day on April 18 with the
Moon Bounce.
1st Vice Turner said the committee to work at the Marlton Golf Course decided there wasn’t
enough time to be a full sponsor, but want instead to be a presence to support the week-
long Grand Opening in mid-September.
There was a motion for Post 381 to sponsor, with the Warlton Golf Course, for the golf tournament in support of the Wounded Warrior Project in September. MSP.
1st Vice Turner further indicated some local musical entertainers could be available the
Wednesday -- the Wounded Warriors Day -- and will work with the committee to coordinate
the events. He mentioned some of the other sponsors during the week include the D.C. Air
National Guard, Prince George’s County & Greater Washington Boys & Girls Clubs. Events
during the week will include a throwback outdoor movie, casino night, Gospel day; and
include live comedians and musicians; snacking and dining vendors; and scholarship awards.
New Business:
Cmdr presented a picture of the Post 381 Ball Cap he had been designing. The vendor he
selected will sell them to the Post for $22. He proposed the Post purchase an initial order of
20 caps and sell them for $25. A motion was made to accept Cmdr Fisher’s proposal. MSP
At the Department Convention in Ocean City, MD last month, Post 381 was awarded a
plaque for 100% membership retention.
In addition, Cmdr Fisher received an Outstanding Commander Award at the convention.
Cmdr Fisher and Sergeant-at-Arms Dan Dorrance recently traveled north and connected
with the New York Public Defenders motorcycle club. This club is composed of various
organizations including police, fire-fighters, and first-responders. Post 381 was adopted by
this club to present a Veteran’s side of the Public Defenders. Jacket & Vest patches were
shown. A motion was make to sponsor the Public Defenders. MSP.
Good of the Legion: The Post’s newest member and active duty service member, Jeremy Bungard introduced himself.
