Introduction of Guests. All member of Post 381 introduced themselves to Steven Coddings,
Tara Dunne, Bryce Joseph and Paige Pendergrass, who gave a presentation later in the
meeting; and Jimmy Garvin, representing The Marlton Golf Club.
Reports: The Financial Report was given by Commander Ronald Fisher. MSP.
Sick Call: Post 381 Historian Felix Colaciello is recovering from recent back surgery. Marlton
Golf Club co-owner Vann Jones’ wife is not doing well with cancer.
Old Business: Cmdr Fisher updated the Post that the lease with Wilmer’s Park is slowly but
surely moving forward.
Cmdr Fisher announced to the attending Post members who are also on active duty that the
Letters of Appreciation they need for their command have been drafted and will be sent this
week.
First Vice Commander Henry Turner started this segment reviewing the location of the
Annex. He distributed the latest floorplan of The Annex building and described the exterior
appearance. The building has to be built by the end of May or the Bond Bill will be in
jeopardy; the hours of operation of the gaming machines has to be finalized; the lease we
originally signed between Post 381 and The Marlton Golf Club was out of order with The
American Legion protocols and has to be withdrawn and submitted through proper
channels.
Cmdr Fisher presented to Marlton Golf Club Office Manager Lynda Hart the first
month’s rent for using The Annex. The Annex will need some updating in the way of fresh
paint, carpeting and kitchen fixtures. He will announce at a later date when a work-day will
attend to these matters. The Lottery people contacted Marlton Golf Club to schedule the
installation of fiber optics in the walls. Cmdr Fisher described the steps the Post must take
to present the Annex lease to the D.E.C. To that end, Cmdr Fisher moved that the Post
reaffirm that it wants to lease The Post 381 Annex from The Marlton Golf Club. MSP.
New Business: Cmdr Fisher noted that there has been some significant breakdowns in
communication while finishing up The Post 381 Annex package that will be presented to the
Prince George’s County Council. He admonished everyone to not be putting off work that
has to be done.
For the Good of the Post: Paige Pendergrass presented how her non-profit organization
found Post 381 online and presented what Novation enterprise is and with the help of Tara
Dunne and Bryce Joseph asked for help from Post 381 and The Marlton Golf Club to provide
a classroom so they can provide the training of tradecraft to separating veterans.
Adjourn: MSP to adjourn.
The Post Chaplain having already left the building, the Post observed a moment of silence.
Next meeting will be Monday, April 16, at 7:30pm, at the Post 381 Annex, 9413 Midland
Turn, Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Meeting adjourned at 9:03pm.
Respectfully submitted;
