The American Legion Warffemius-Seider Post 381 membership meeting opened at 7:40 pm
at 14313 Brandywine Heights Road, Brandywine, MD by Post Commander Ron Fisher.
A quorum being met by the following
members in attendance or excused absences: Visitors:
Pamela Neal-Robinson New Members:
Henry Turner Marrie Nunn
Erle Ross Cheraunda Nunn
Invocation from Post Chaplain, Chris Marshall
Minutes from the previous meeting was presented and approved.
Treasury Report: Finance Officer Pamela Neal-Robinson, presented the current financial
statement. Finance Officer Neal-Robinson further advised that Post 381 had ordered new
checks from the bank, however the checks were missing the second signature block for
officers of the post to sign, therefore the checks needed to be returned and corrected. MSP
Executive Committee: Commander Fisher advised Park & Planning had a meeting waiting on
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and having their legal group clear things for Post
381 to be on the premises of Wilmer’s Park. Cmdr Fisher further advised Post 381 is no
longer partnering up with Park & Planning as the minutia was too cumbersome and
convoluted to make the partnership work expeditiously for the Post. Therefore Post 381 will
obtain a 100 year lease without the help of Park & Planning.
Historian Report: On behalf of Post Historian Felix Colaciello, Cmdr Fisher reported that
Historian Colaciello will deposit all of Post 381s DD-214s into the safety deposit box at the
bank, along with the Bible which was once held by Mr. Warffemius.
Old Business: Cmdr Fisher reminded everyone that for every $1000 of grants/donations
made to the Post, the member responsible for the contribution will receive 8% commission.
First Vice Commander Henry Turner also noted that the Post will still be looking for
professional organizations to hire to bring larger grants/donations to Post 381.
New Business: Marrie Nunn was introduced to Post 381 and was asked about her travels
and motivation to transfer to Post 381 from her Post in Florida. As a new member of Post
381, Cmdr Fisher welcomed Ms. Nunn with the Post’s new License Plate as welcome to the
Post. Ms. Nunn stated that “viewing Post 381’s website was very important in making her
decision on which Post to transfer to.” Along with getting in contact with Adjutant Erle Ross
and Cmdr Fisher, she felt that Post 381 was the best fit for her and her daughter. Issues
important to her were Post 381 being a diverse group between the ages, races, and
experiences in the military and did not pose as a watering hole. Ms. Nunn further
mentioned that she was heavily involved with community activities held by her previous
Post and she was eager to do similar actions with Post 381. Cmdr Fisher felt that having such
a committee would definitely be beneficial for Post 381 and ordered the Public
Relations/Community Outreach Committee be established with Ms. Nunn to chair the
committee. Ms. Nunn accepted the appointment. Finance Officer Neal-Robinson was also
appointed to the committee.
Cmdr. Fisher also had the chance to talk with Private Nunn who also wants to join Post 381
and has also offered her services to be an Active Duty recruiter for the Post.
Judge Advocate Jeremy Foster and Adjutant Ross wanted to bring to the attention of the
Post that officer selections are to be conducted in January. According to Post 381 Bi-Laws,
the position of Commander can be held by 1 person for a maximum of two consecutive
years. Since Cmdr Fisher was the de facto Commander during the year Post 381 held a
temporary charter and doesn’t count as an actual year of Cmdr Fisher’s tenure as
Commander. Therefore Cmdr Fisher can remain as Commander for 2015. Cmdr Fisher also
suggested that the officers holding positions within Post 381 should maintain their positions
for 2015 as well.
Sergeant-at-Arms Ian Young advised the Post that he will be leaving the area and has agreed
to relinquish his office. New Member Marrie Nunn has volunteered to assume the office of
Sergeant-at-Arms. According to the National Bi-Laws, a member of the Post can run for an
officer position if they’ve attended two consecutive meetings; Regardless of Post 381s Bi-
Laws under Section 10, which requires a person to attend at least 10 meetings within the
previous 12 months prior to being nominated to an officer position. Since Ms. Nunn is a
transfer, her attendance from her previous Post is admissible in satisfying the requirements
for Ms. Nunn to run for Sergeant at Arms for 2015. Judge Advocate Foster will check the Bi-
Laws for clarity on the issue.
Finance Officer Pam Neal-Robinson nominated Marrie Nunn for the office of Sergeant-at-
Arms. MSP by unanimous decision.
Finance Officer Neal-Robinson reported that she was contacted by Girl Scout Troop 6402
looking for venues to host their Christmas Party. All facilities they checked out were booked.
Since Post 381 does not have a building as of yet, the best the Post can offer is support. Cmdr Fisher advised he would make some calls but that in the future, request for venues
should be made with at least 30-60 days’ notice.
Finance Officer Neal-Robinson also commented that with the anticipation of large sums of
money coming to the Post in the future, it would be wise of the Post to hire a certified
accountant. Cmdr Fisher advised Bob Ross would have a contact that would be able to
For the Good of the Post: County Commander Moss passed Post 381’s inspection with
